Will it melt plastic or not?

I want to attempt to make those slide pendants with the lead tape(like the stuff used in lead windows)
Id prefer to use perspex as its safer but do you think the soldering of the tape will melt the perspex?

Why not try it with a small off cut first. It would be a crying shame to get too far and then ruin your work!!

Very good idea.I shall inform you what happens once I get the feeling back in my hands as Im at work with one heater working!!!

I heated up the soldering iron and held it on the plastic for a few seconds, yep it melted but not like a hot knife through butter.
So I get the impression with a layer of solder tape over it its not gona melt horribly.
