Hi
I'm seeking advice again! (hopefully one day I'll be able to give some instead!)

I'm in the process of working with a web designer to create a new e-commerce website for greetings cards and wedding stationery. My intention was to be able to add greetings cards to a shoping basket and check out and then order wedding stationery via an online form with payment to be requested via email provided I can fulfill the order.

Has anyone manged to do anything similar successfully? My stumbling block seems to be being able to do different ordering for the two different product types. Whatever I do for one has to be the same for the other?

Any advice very welcome - I'm very untechy though!
Thanks
Victoria

What I have on my site is Google Checkout (as opposed to Paypal) and I have the add to basket buttons for things which are pay now. But I also have another button for special orders and when I make specials I add the details to this one button and then can get payment.

This will only work obviously if you have immediate access to your site's workings.

I separated my Wedding Stationery from my greetings cards on to two sites with links back to each other. I have a pic of my wedding stationery on my greeting cards site home page and when you click on it, it links directly to the other site.

You should be able to have two separate ways of ordering, I am part way to updating mine for wedding cushions and personalised products, all I am doing on these pages is state email your order and then I will invoice via paypal, once proofing etc has been done

Thanks for your comments - fatastic websites by the way.

Carolee crafts - that's what I want to do, email me an order and I'll invoice via paypal. I think it's because I've gone for a full on e-commerce site that it's getting difficult as all products are treated as stock items to add to basket. It's such a shame as for the greetings card side it works like a dream and the design company I'm using are great to work with too. I think I'm just being awkward!

I need to have a big think.

Pagan - thanks for your suggestion and letting me have a peek at your lovely sites. I do want to keep to one site though as can't afford hosting etc for two.

Fiona - your jewellery is gorgeous
