I dragged myself to dreary cold London on Saturday to see the Degas, Letrec, Sickert exhibition at the Tate Britain.
When I got in it was heaving, about 3 people deep!!I was very annoyed, I try and get out of peoples way when Im in a supermarket, let alone an exhibition but do you think people would get out of the way for me!!People completely blocked up the only 'through routes' between the rooms.Grrrrr, its a pet hate of mine.
What I saw of the pictures i liked but annoyingly didnt get a sense of the history behind them.
What did make me happy was the other paintings in the Tate that I wasnt expecting to see.
There were works by Rosetti, John Martin, Turner, I looked into one room and the Lady of Shallott and St Aululia(cant spell that name)by Waterhouse were staring back at me.Absolutley beautiful.

Never been to the Tate, but sounds like it would have been interesting if not so busy.
Pity.

Yeah, only the exhibition bit was busy but they cleverly had timed viewings which I thought was a good idea but didnt really help.
MAy be less busy during the week.
The rest of the museum was pratically empty, like a ghost town.
Oh, I bought a Tate pen, a Degas fridge magnet and cup.The gift shop is always the best bit.

It was quite bizarre, Ive been to the area around the London eye/Tate Modern more often and thats really busy.
The Tate Britain is just round the corner(so to speak) and the roads and streets were practically empty!!
I walked back past Big Ben which i think is a fantastic building.I went by it just as it was chiming 2 oclock, it sounded great.
It was swarming with tourists, I was asked by 2 lots of people to take pictures for them.

That sounds like a really good day out Seahorse (on a less busy day of course).
Went to a few art museums when I was in Holland including Van Gogh and it really was an experience seeing the paintings in 'real life' :)

If I ever go and see real art I want there to be this 'whack in the face' of 'oh my God, thats the real painting!!' but sadly Ive never really got that.
I wante the spirit of Letrec to woft out and sweep me off my feet, but it didnt happen.
I did let out a gasp of delight when I saw the Rosettis/Waterhouses tho, these were pictures id loved since my school days.

Now your asking!!
Proserpine is the only one I immediately remember.
If you go onto the Tate Britain site, click on collections then go to victorians/pre raphalite, you can see what was on display.
