Have bought tins and glassware from Fullmoon (http://www.fullmoons-cauldron.co.uk) before. You have to be careful as not all glass is able to take the heat of a candle, a friend bought some candles in glasses at a school fair once and they cracked when the candle got hot.

Yep I agree have to be very careful with glass ware.
Keith at Candelights (http://www.candelights.co.uk) stocks glass ware too.
HTH.

I have used all those kind of jars to make jam and have sterilised them in a very hot oven without any breakages so I think the answer is yes they will be OK

We've been looking at small glass vases for candles but aren't sure how these would be - has anyone tried these? Also what about coffee jars, and sauce jars?
Also, we're considering a range of candles in mug/espresso cups - has anyone any experience with this? Is there anything we need to do differently?
Thanks

Hi,
I once used a tall square vase thingy as a mould. Was ok with the heat. Wanted to keep the vase though so took candle out, looked nice in the vase though. I have also used sauce jars etc, I get those peel off stickers and stick them on, sometimes colour them in with glass paint pens. Then just fill the jar up with wax. Only thing is, the small ones look nice, but once you've burn the candle a bit, you can't reach to relight it because the jar is too narrow :( But I suppose you could use those really long matches :D

Ooh, forgot, I also do the cappucino ones in cups, I don't do anything differently except whipping the wax at the end for the topping. have a look on my site if ya want at my cappucino one. Hope this was helpful!

Thanks for your help Cathy :D
Just had a look at your candles and I love thelook of the cappucino ones - they're fab!! How do you go about 'whipping' the wax? Do you have to let it cool first?

I use a really cheap supplier for containers - they have a HUGE range

Hope this is useful to all the candle makers out there.

Yes, you let it cool until a sort of skin forms on top, then you can whip it up with a fork. I use a combination of a teaspoon and my fingers to spread it on to look like cream/froth and then add a sprinkling of cocoa - yum! Hope this helps, thanks for the comment on my cappucino candles! :mf:
