Ive just placed gold leaf onto a sized area.

Im confused by the instructions, it says for large areas, overlap the sheets, leave to dry for 2-3 hours. Then goes on to say using paintbrush, brush in metal in circular movements, removing any hanging pieces

Does that mean leave to dry for 2-3 hours before I remove hanging bits or remove hanging bits then leave to dry for 2-3 hours.

Thinking about it, if they are hanging they are not need so I can remove them, then wait 2-3 hours to dry.

What do you think,help!!

I've not used gold leaf before but I think you have to let it dry before you start brushing off any loose bits.

Doh, I didnt have patience yesterday, so I brushed it off, that may explain the bits coming off and leaving holes!

I shall leave it in future.

It's frustrating, isn't it, when you're dying to 'do' something and see how it comes out then you find out that you have to wait hours for it to dry?!

Never mind. My Dad used to say "The person who never made a mistake, never made anything". And he was so right.

Better luck next time. :)

Thats a nice phrase, Il remember that one.

I was playing with diamond glaze the other day and I kept touching itto see if it was dry therefore leaving fingerprints in it and totally ruining my attempt at the thingy i was making.
It ended up with dents and scratches, but it was fun to see the process, its all about trial and error, got to get on that craft journey to see what you get in the end.

The man who never made a mistake never made anything and more importantly never learnt anything either lol. At least you know how to do it next time :D
