Everyone seems so up and clever at making website, I envy you lol. After reading through a lot of the messages it seems like mr site is a good product. I am so wanting to have a site, but I am such a novice at a computer I dont think I would be able to do it.
Is mr site that simple to use, or do you need to have some clue as to what you are doing?

I personally think that Mr Site is ideal for novices... I am fairly clueless when it comes to building websites and it's been good for me. I still have to update my website soon as I need to change all the gallery images but you can take a look at my site to see what I achieved with no experience!

Oh Oh you so would be able to do it -Mr site is so easy, there is nothing more to do than select options and press a button - its easier than navigating this forum and if you make an error you just go back and do it again.
To be honest, MR sites are genious for the money - yep they are basic but the look and feel that you can get is amazing - if you look at Mr Woodtattos site above, his choices have built a lovely looking site. I have several mr sites, neither sales sites but one of them took me an hour to build AND i am completely pants at web stuff.
i am so confident that you could do a mr site and i am sure that if you need any help, you can ask here.
Go for it!!!

Hi dbc2612
You have nothing to loose giving it a try and everything to gain. Just have a bit of confidence and take the plunge and if you get stuck that's what the forum is here for.

Loads of people on this forum use MrSite so if you do get any problems chances are someone will have encountered it and solved it before you so there'll be plenty of help available. Plus I believe someone high up in the Mr Site company is actually a member on this forum and have helped out in the past too :)

Can you tell me who the high up on Mr site person is please? I have been wanting to find out some buisness stuff rather than website stuff from MR site - I always like contact with an indicidual rather than an inbox.
Thanks

Hi,
I have spent a few hours over the weekend setting up my site with Mr Site. I found it relatively easy for someone who knows nothing about building a website. Still need to work some things out, such as putting a title on my sub pages.......it must be there somewhere! If I can do it anyone can:)

Hi
I am also in the process of trying to build a website.
I chose MR SITE as it seemd to have quite a good reputation.
Have had so many problems with it and the customer services are not great ,been waiting for well over a week for them to get back to me after multiple emails.Maybe I have been the one in the million who has to get the one with problems, but it is very frustrating.
Goo Luck with your choice.

Hi,
I've just joined and a site you might like to look at is vistaprint.co.uk I've used their web builder and it's very easy to use. The template options are great and it's a real cinch to keep up to date. Plus you get loads of free stationary!

The sellers that I know who use Mr Site absolutely love it; personally I love making my own website from scratch. I'm always up for making one for anyone :D:playball:

It never ceases to amaze me how much you can learn by accident!
Until now I have never heard of this 'Mr. Site' thing - but I can see how popular it is. I'll have to check it out. I get a lot of people asking me about how to build websites - God alone knows why - I haven't a clue :))
Many thanks and happy creating!

Only just joined the forums but saw this post and thought i'd share the name of the company I used.
clikpic is the host and although it is aimed mainly at artists and photographers, they state that anyone can use them if they so wish.
I am in the process of getting one set up for our village crafts group which is a timely reminder for me to get on with it !
it looks like most on here like Mr Site which i'd never heard of until now so will go and take a look

If you want to buy your own hosting and build your site from scratch my son has recently started using a "drag & drop" website builder. It's ubelelievably easy, you can get more info via the resources page on my website.

I'm working through the specifics of getting our products online as well. Something that I feel that is important for you to consider is that the site needs to look and be professional. As a frequent internet customer nothing puts me off more than a 'handmade' site or one that doesn't work. They need to look good and be easy to navigate. If I find a handmade site, I usually leave them as I don't have the confidence in buying from them. On the otherhand, I have been to really professional sites and have made it all the way to checkout and had their site hang on me and mess up the purchase. Today many ISPs have templates/themes, shopping cart functionality, etc. as part of your monthly hosting. Take a look at daily. co. uk (add www and remove spaces) and their e-shop section. Low cost, UK provider, and very smart. I'm sure there are many others as well.

I've just started my site with bigcartel.com - It's been incredibly easy to use and I think that the reults are good. $15 a month but there is no contract so you can leave when you want

I bought a site for my partners daughter as a gift, she managed most things, but had real issues with a shopping cart and payment systems.. and she too found it nigh on "impossible" to get help from tech support..
It put me off using them.. though of course this may be just 2 isolated experiences in a wealth of positive ones

Ever thought about using a free cart such as cubecart or zencart? There are loads of free skins you can download to personalize it, it's dead easy to set up, the helplines are good and there are hundreds of help forums on the net.

I am wanting to have a website but have looked at lots and even tried vista prints but they do not seem to be easy to do.
I require the basics to be able to sell and promote a part of my business in Bath Products showing and selling only some of the packaged items from wholsalers that I deal with and are core line stock. These are hand made. I would like to then be able to promote the craft fayres that I stand at with other hand made products that I sell in the soap line which keep changing along with other goods that I sell as extras.
I would require payment buttons.
Is there anyone out there that could point me into the right direction as I have even looked at some of the sites on here but they all seem to want to bamboozel me with tecnical info that I am not sure I need.
I also have very little spare cash as do all us crafters.
Please pm with your thoughts.

Asked hubby and he said : .......................
"
while all the premade sites have their plus points , I would like to give a big thumbs up to zen-cart . out of the box it will not look flash , but it will do everything you want it to and more by the way it is designed in the open source world. With a bit of know how you can get them looking great.
There are cost involved even though it is free :
you need a decent hosting account , free webspace wont cut it .
if you need to process payments on anything other than paypal then you need a merchant account with a bank and a payment gateway and pay for a secure part of your site ( ssl )
Hope that hasnt put you off , what im trying to say is while template sites ill give you a working store , will it do everything you want it to do and grow with you ? zen-cart can and will ! I look after several successfull website using zen-cart." PM me if you want to know anymore.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to say for other potential users that Mr Site support team will reply to a support email within 24 hours. If it ever goes past this time, then check in your junk folder to ensure the email has not been put in there and also that your email is working generally.
There is also the telephone support line but the free email support is within 24 hours.
best wishes

I know this is late but - i used to do custom "Skins" for Cubecart which is a free shopping cart program it has been a while to be honest so i am a bit rusty!! If you or anyone still needs a website would be happy to give it a go... i wouldn't charge unless you wanted any stock images etc
I use hostgator for my hosting (though i don't have a site up at the moment) they are cheap, reliable and you can easily get hold of support if you need(I had a problem that was driving me insane and between them they sorted it out in a day or 2!!)
Happy to help anyone who needs help or advice on getting their website up and running...even if it is a question on where/how to start... just PM me and i will do my best!!

This looks good, i had never heard of them before. Can you use your existing domain name, and is there much flexibility with the design? I like the way your site looks very professional.

I was very pleasantly surprised by PayPal's shopping cart - it's dead easy to use and free (apart form the 3-point-whatever percent per transaction). And because the customer goes to PayPal's site to pay (they get sent back to you) you don't need to worry about security.
What really wowed me though was the option of drop-down menus and personalisation options, which I really needed. I didn't think I'd be able to get these so easily and without paying a fee.

Hi, ive had my mrsite website for 2 years now, its ok, but iam completely useless with it, im still having a fight with it at the moment, ive been trying to make it look a little less amateurish, but it never does what i want it to!! Theyve improved it a lot over the last year, and for the money it definatley good value.
good luck if you do go for it!:)
