Fat Quarters

Hi everybody.

I'm new to this forum and, I have to admit, I'm not a quilter at all. However, my Mum is and I've seen some lovely fabric I'd like to get her for Christmas.

I just wondered if anyone could tell me how many fat quarters you'd need to make a quilt. I know it depends what kind of quilt and the size, but a ballpark figure for a king size bed-sized quilt would be really helpful.
