I agree with SusieQ. You havent done anything wrong and if you have been making them for two years - you may well ask her where did she get the idea from for making hers!?!?.

She as just posted on ebay

Report her to ebay, and copyright of something is very hard when it comes to design all you have to do is add a pink dot some where and its not the same, i had a friend who was a tattooist, he drew wonderful drawings and all because another tattooist gave Long hair or added a flower it changed his design. So even if the cake had a slightly different way to it she would be hard pressed to challenge you.
I would tell her naff off and i would also report her to ebay for harassment as surely she should of approached ebay first. I'm sure they wont appreciate their site being used for daft allegations.
As an off chance if you wanted to shut he up, did you post it on here or on a blog or on an email any time in the past, i would send her a copy of a link if so.
I'm guessing she is stressing as her sales are down and trying to protect what she thinks is her pitch .... on the world wide web lololo

I'd ignore her for the time being but keep a record of any emails she sends you as you could get her banned for harrassment.
Although its not nice, try not to worry about it - have you seen the amount of card toppers that are the same on ebay?!!:D

I agree with Tiptop! :p Keep a record of emails, but take no notice at present and see what happens next.
If you havent copied her (and her ebay listings will confirm this) she has no grounds to complain anyway.
Good luck! :sm:

I wouldn't worry, I assume that she hasn't registered the design, therefore, even if you had copied it, she has no comeback!

Grr some people eh?! I made a card the other and was having a nose at ebay to see what people were selling and saw one basically the same as I had made but I dont care and certainly wouldnt email someone who had the same design as me as am sure there are lots of other cards out there the same as I have made - thats life.
Maybe contact ebay and tell them of the emails she is sending you as that really isnt on
xxHannah
I sell on etsy and this is an issue that comes up ALL the time! She has no comeback at all. I personally would ignore it - you dont want to become involved in some silly heated discussion with her - its not worth it. If she continues to email then just report her. x

Good advice there. Don't get intimidated. England is a free Country - for you as well as her. Reading all the posts 'Right' is probably on your side. Don't be tempted to answer her as she could, if she took it that far, use it as amunition. Head up, shoulders back and keep going forward as if it never happened. You are better than them.

It's not as if she has some kind of patent on the idea is it?! She can't be doing much business if she has time to stick her nose into somebody elses.
I wouldn't even bother to reply.:mf:

I vote for going and biffing her!! :but:
Seriously though, how much of anything these days is truely original - yes each piece may be unique, but most designs are similar to, or inspired by something else. I wouldn't complain of somone copying me if they came up with a piece of jewellery in a similar style - unless it was obvious it was a direct copy and trying to pass it off as one of mine.
Her reply to you smacks of 'I'm not playing unless I can play on my own' if shes giving up because of a bit of competition. I'd ignore her from now on -she has no way of 'proving' you copied her and if she wants to throw her toys out of the pram let her get on with it on her own :D

Don't listen to her, just ignore her.

Just ignore her, there is no way that she can claim that the design is her exclusive idea! You get this a lot in jewellery design - but unless she has copyrighted it she's on to plums :sm:

I agree with everybody else
send her a one reply stating that any further contact over this matter will be classed as harassment and you will have no choice but to report her to ebay who will deal with the matter, make sure you tell her a copy has been made of your reply and all contact emails from her will be kept.
And make sure you add her to your blocked bidders list , the last thing you need is her auction wrecking by buying from you and leaving you a negative !!

:)I agree with all that's been said, and think that BeckyBoo's advice is really good, and info that many of us can use in same circumstances. Once you've done that forget about that person causing you grief and concentrate on the pleasanter things in life like your daughter's wedding!

Yep, keep a record of all her emails and ignore her for the time being.
Have you trawled through her feedback to see if she's sold any of these items? If she's sold any in the last 90 days you should be able to see (unless she keeps her bidders private).

Glad its sorted it not like it is a unique design unlike my wedding invitation which I paid an artist (mate and a bottle of scotch) to go and draw the church scanned and used with his permission then someone scanned the invite I sent them and used for their wedding a year later:slap: I was not a happy bunny.

You could take that in 2 ways that 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery' or if they didn't ask permission 'grrrrrrr'....
