I've noticed that this section doesn't appear to be very busy.
Does it mean that there isn 't many glass crafters out there.
I thought it was a very popular craft.
I make fused glass items, mainly jewellery.
I seem to have a niche market in my local area and there are hardly any other crafters making the same product. I attended Nairn Highland Games yesterday and my dichroic jewellery proved very popular. I've just created a new range and it's going really well.
I'n now working on glass art, as opposed to jewellery.
Does anybody else make glass art - what do you make.

Ive not dared to look into glass bead making, yet another thing id spend a fortune on.
I have made things with microscope slides, sandwiching pictures between 2 slides then soldering round them, not got round to selling them tho.

Hi Kathryn,
maybe we're all to busy to post messages? Seems like the glass crafters only post when they've got a problem. Good for you If you've got a virtual monopoly in your area.
Kev.

I think its one of the more exspensive hobbys as well, and many would love to be involved in it but outlay is way to dear.
Theres no shortage of sellers on the net, but good on you if you have got your self a market.:)

Hi
It is popular, its just what with the children on summer holidays, taking on a part time job as need more glass to keep business going, also preparing for a two day event at the weekend...... I'm exhausted!!!!!!
I usually have a look at the forum once a day but unfortunately my brain just does not connect enough to comment, today all seems to be working well although I now have to go fix lunch for my three children, make pendants, order boxes and the list goes on.
We are here
Just very busy
and very tired!!!!

I've been trying to find a good importer of resonable prices for a home kiln for ages. The prices are crazy, once i get that im more or less ok.

I also run glass fusing workshops, but the problem in my area is that people do not know what glass fusing is. I live in NE Scotland and it's quite rural so things take along time to get known up here!
However, a local-ish shop has booked me to run classes and I'm going to see how these go.
Also, you have to charge quite a lot for workshops, which is another problem in this economic state!

I would love to do glass fusing or lampwork but it's just too expensive for me. There is someone near me who does beautiful glass sculptures and sells them in art galleries around the region.
