hi, can anyone advise me whether when embossing you have to use a heat gun, can you use a hairdryer on hot?
any suggestions welcome
sam :)

Hi Sam
Casting my mind back to why I first bought my heat gun I'm pretty sure a hairdryer didn't work...
....nope, just tried it with my hairdryer and even on the highest setting it doesn't get hot enough to melt the powder.
I know you can often pick up heat guns for under £20 if you visit your local shops or search Froogle on the internet :)

thanks for that. I just thought it may work, i was reading something on embossing techniques on the web and it suggested a heat source could be...... wait for it a toaster, hob or iron....please tell me this person is joking, i have a feeling i would go up in smoke if i tried that.
thanks
again

No, I've heard about using the heat from a toaster somewhere - don't think I fancy giving it a go though :?
My husband also assures me that he's managed to melt embossing powder using his lighter  but I don't know if you've got the same images of card (and house) on fire as I have at that idea...he's been told NOT to try it again, honestly it's worse than living with kids

Some heat guns cost around £25!!
I bought my heat gun, 2 embossing powders and a clear ink pad from Argos, all for £20.00.
Also I think it was here that someone told me to heat the powder from underneath the paper to avoid any blowing away.

You can use a toaster, believe it or not...it actually works!
But, the far better option would be to get one of those heat gun/paint stripper type things from your local DIY store...on the lowest setting it should produce a good result too.
