Hi I've just had an e-mail of an Amy Vic Jones @ good eye for links asking if I would like to swap links with 2 other companies and she claims to have got my website from the crafts forum and there is actually a link back to here, the problem been I was requested to link to 2 painting websites which seemed a bit silly really.
I was going to copy and paste the whole e-mail but wasn't sure if I would egt in trouble (again)
Anyone got any suggestions is this sort of thing allowed or is it naughty.?
The acrual thread it linked back to, now I think about it, I had not even looked at.
Has anyone else had this e-mail?
Cheers

Links help ranking websites. Many link exchanges are fake. You ad a link and get nothing for it.
If the site doesn't interest you then delete the email..
You can hurt your by linking to "bad" sites as you have no control of who links to you but have full control of what you link too.
worth reading this if you have time

It's really up to you if you want to link to those sites, and whether you think they would bring people to your site or take them away. I know if you link to a very popular site it helps yours on the search engines.
One small point though, I would be wary of using your email address as a name on forums as sometimes it can be picked up by spammers etc. You can easily ask the moderators to alter it for you.

Thanks I keep meaning to change my name! Just thought it strange how they e-mailed and thought I would warn everyone in case it was dodgy.
Thanks again

I get between 30 and 100 link requests a day and ignore all of them.. Link to friends or people you have meet or can trust..
Google works because of links as a link = a vote which inturn = higher ranking.
So link to site that help and you like / love but never link to a site you don't know like or care for..

I agree with the replies - add the link if you are comfortable to do so, you can always take it off if you add it and it doesn't work out - links will promote your site.
