Glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks like that. I read this last night just after it was posted and decided I'd had a few too many V&C's to post my thoughts.:mf:

I think it is maybe the poster who had had too many V & Cs. I too looked at it and thought "what?" and moved on!! Wonder if we will have find out!

Right then, here goes...

I need the money to set up a hostel for disillusioned Crafts Forum members in Hawaii. The money will fund free flights for any Forum member to the 5 star resort situated right on the coast. There will be a bead pit for jewellers to play in (like those ball pits for kids but much more crafty) and Peter Beadsage is currently studying for his Lifeguard certificate in order to save the lives of over-enthusiastic crafters who dive in headfirst: he will also be creating a big poster with all the pool rules on (no running, no diving, no spam, etc). Swirly will be in charge of the Crafty Play Farm where crafters can go to relax and feed the chickens. MrM will be running a disco and karaoke every night, and I'll be doing a BBQ as I'm good at burning things. We will be running daily craft fairs that we can all have free permanent stalls at.The money from this grant will assist us in living a life of luxury as we will divert every local road to the resort, so that we can ensure all tourists get off to go to the craft fair.

I look forward to receiving the grant shortly.

Brilliant - I am glad someone has managed to answer the question - wonder whether craftsew will ever reappear to find the response?! Sounds a very good claim for a grant - could we try for lottery money to fund that?!

Will we be getting the tourists to barter or are we going to have fixed price shops? ;)

Either's good but they will be advised about the compulsory minimum purchase amount! :D

Yep - count me in!

I will assist with the barbeque and ensure that the beer is kept at it's optimum temperature.

I think I have a grass skirt and a lei somewhere (fancy dress costume, or just a wierdo?)

I don't think we will ever see them again unfortunately.

I'm writing a letter to the National Lottery as we speak.

I have read the ongoing fun and games on this post and they are hilarious...especially wood tattoo!...LOL!...

However, I cant help but think...has anyone stopped to think about the person who origianlly posted this message...obvioulsy they needed help..

Okay...they may not have put down enough detail or made things very clear, but I know if I was a nervous first visitor and had made an attempt at communicating / asking for help and this is the response I received, then maybe if my sense of humour was away for the day, I may never get the courage up to do so again....or reply...

Just a thought!

i suppose it's a bit like someone barging into your house and saying

'right........i need some help with ....'

no introduction, hi my name is....etc

personally I'd be a bit miffed. It was, at best a little naive and at worst very bad manners

JMHO

If anyone barges into our little crafting idyll in Hawaii then maybe we could make them buy a few things off each of us!

Have to say this is one of the funniest threads I have read on this forum. but - enough of the fun and games. Lets get serious.

Hi Katie and may I comment on your bravery at returning - I know I never would have.

Sorry but I can't help you with your question but have you thought about going to have a chat with a local business / grant advisor. They usually have someone to advise you about filling in all the forms.

BTW Si . . . . . I've already booked my ticket. And to all you ladies out there thinking of joining us - Primark have some great bikinis in the sale. ;)

Before you apply, you need to ensure that you meet the standard criteria for the grant or loan, applying when you are not eligible will cause a lot of wasted time and effort.

You will need to create a project proposal, detailing what you need the grant money for, the aims you have for the project, as well as how and when you hope to achieve them.

It helps to also have a good business plan available, this helps show the organisation that your business has planned effectively, has a good business model, and is worth providing funding for.

As well as a project proposal, you may also need to fill in a specific application form, with detailed questions. You may also be called for a personal interview (particularly for larger grants or loans) to present your case for funding.

Off Topic If Si gets the grant for the "Island Retreat" I have my three barter beads & my slip of pass paper....
can I order me coconut bra in extra large please?? :D

Craftsew, I can't think of anything else to add that MuranoSilver hasn't already said. I hope you didn't mind my response to your question... I intended no harm by being a little light-hearted. We are a friendly and helpful bunch on here who go out of our way to be helpful, but we do need a bit more info to go on than your initial question! Best of luck with your grant application.

Si.
