Mobile phone charms

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forums and after posting in the Introduction Forum I thought I'd start showing off some of my latest projects. ;)

I've been beading for a while now but just recently I've been making beaded animals/figurines from patterns/tutorials on the internet. There are actually very few english sites that I've found - most of them are french, german and even japanese so I just have to follow the diagrams as best I can!! (Although, I do know a little french... :)). Anyway, I've also recently purchased some charm straps after a friend of mine suggested I make my creatures into phone charms and sell them. So here's one I made recently - one of the smaller ones I've made, a "Hello Kitty" face!!

That's the great thing about those little charm straps - you can make phone charms, bag charms, mp3 player charms etc.

I have actually just started to try and sell them. I managed to get some better photos taken (!!) and they're much clearer now. I just tried putting a link to my charms on ebid in my signature, but I'm not sure if it's worked.... hmmm

Lol, I'm getting into photo editting now :D
I have to say it makes such a difference to the photos when you can alter brightness, contrast, etc - I think it makes them much more appealing.

I love all of these charms but do not think that I have the patience or nimble enough fingers to do them but would love to have a go for my grand-daughter. Where can I buy the strap to go on a mobil or mp3? Not to bulk buy but just a few to have a go.

Hi Rosemary,

I bought all my stock off ebay. I bought in bulk as it as much cheaper, obviously. They do sell the charm straps in groups of 10, 20 or 50 though I think... Try searching "charm lariats" and you should see what you're looking for. ;)

They are really great. I looked up the links to the French sites and made a crocodile and a lizard a while back. What I really want to make next is a dog that resembles my handsome German Pointer. There are instructions for a dalmation so maybe I can adapt that as they are very similar in size/shape.:)

Thanks. I sometimes think the photos don't really do them justice. A lot of people have said that the charms look better 'in the flesh' :) and that they appreciate the quality/complexity of them after actually holding them and looking up close.

I have got better at taking the photos (after reading some tips on here) but I wish I could convey that extra 'wow factor' that people get when they see them in real-life (rather than pics). Ah well, if anyone has any tips they'll be greatly appreciated.

lovely! I'll have to show my neighbour, she's mad about phone charms.

I also did the 2D a while back, it was the crocodile, I had to make more and give them to my niece and nephew at the time! I actually even translated the instruction in English (got them from a French book) to give to someone.

Lol, yes it is based on Nemo ;). I made a red clown fish as well a few weeks ago, and someone bought it as a 'Nemo'. Hehe.

By the way, can I ask what do you think of my prices (on ebay & dawanda)? I wasn't sure how to price them... I priced the fishes higher as they use more beads, but really, for the time it takes me to make them (1-3 hours) the cost is quite low. But then I don't think people would pay more for them. I haven't even sold any yet at the current prices (online, that is). Plus, I think the starting price I put on ebay might be putting people off. What do you think?

My aunt has a GSP and a pointer x lab, the GSP is brown with loads of white spots and is very gorgeous! the cross breed is mental like a lab but pointy like the pointer!

I recently bought a japanese beading book off the net - all the instructions are in japanese (obviously!) but the diagrams are quite clear and easy to follow so it's okay.
