Vitrail glass ceramic paints are the best in the UK, in my opinion. There are two sorts, one is water based the other isnt. The second can be baked in the oven at 250 degrees, making it dishwasher proof. They also dry within an hour without baking. Many other water based paints will peel away from glass without much excuse, so be warned! Its really disheartening if you have spent all that time lovely applying it for it to peel or slide off after a short time.

Could I use glass paint on a mirror then use clear embossing pwder over the top to seal it?

not really advisable to use embossing powder to seal...you may as well have used varnish....try the vitrail (?) ones...I have used them myself and agree with the other person on here...they are the best used so far....!

my favourite brand of vitrail glass paints is le franc - bourgeois
http://www.lefranc-bourgeois.com/loisirs/produits-couleurs-decoverre.html
the set has got a lovely array of colours, they do not smell and they give you nice smooth coverage
the next brand would be pebeo vitrail glass paints :)

As for me, I recommend bourgeois paints as with their help it is very easy to create the mix of colors you need. Great paints! Try them and you will be assured in that.
