Just had 2 of my e-patterns removed from ebay as they apparently breached/infringed copyright and someone had complained and asked they be removed. They are all my own work!!!! I have been selling one of them on Etsy for almost a year..........I am gobsmacked!!!
Call me stupid but nothing is completley original, we all see things we like, a shape a stitch pattern, a yarn..... and adapt them into our own ideas, don't we?
I still have the written notes for both these items as I write stuff down long hand in pencil as I go along then type up once I have the final design.
You know what, I am really hurt that someone would think I would steal form them!

To be honest, ebay seems to be set up in a way which protects buyers more than sellers - just look at the changes they are making to the feedback process.
It is easy for someone who has nothing better to do to report your listing for copyright etc, and ebay will just remove it because it is easier than them having to investigate it.
I know it feels personal, but try not to take it personally. Just relist the items with a clear statement that they are YOUR OWN work, and hope that the same malicious (probably jealous) person doesnt come back on the scene again.

Thats a shame, ebay will have most likely acted without looking at the evidence. Don't worry too much, the person who would have done this is most likely a competitor out to cause hassle rather than someone upset over a 'copied' design.
Maybe look into have your designs copyrighted to avoid this happening again as ultimatley you would have lost out on fees, time and had the added stress of this. :)

Funny that, I had an experience a few years ago with Ebay over the same thing.
I was selling a Minolta lens which was no longer being used. I got the lens as a replacement for one that I had dropped into a stream in Wales. The replacement came from my insurance company; I had no hand in the purchase of it at all!
I had to withdraw the lens from sale and I was told I would be banned for life if I tried to sell it again! Now the lens was a Minolta all dually stamped and registered but it was one of Chinese manufacture as Minolta had sold the patent to Chinnon a Chinese camera manufacturer a few years earlier but the lenses were still being sold under the Minolta brand name quite legally.
All this just makes me believe that there are quite a lot of people within organisations that don’t actually know what they are doing – this appears to getting more common and I find this worrying.

I..

You're right, Ebay has just come back to explain properly what they have done. There first letter was pretty crap!!!
It is the fact that they were digital files, although they removed 2 listings and missed the other 5!!!!
I have removed them now and converted one to a paper option to see if there is any interest. Damn annoying though when sending out an elelctronic copy of a file saves time. Just waiting to see if Etsy follows suit, as most of my Etsy sales have been electronic patterns, without which there is little point having an Etsy shop!!

Actually that wasn't rude enough:sm:
I have to give the support guys there due though, after I wrote back to ebay about the uselessness of the original note....std electronic response, the chap that has been responding to my questions has been really helpful and has replied within a couple of hours, so, I can't complain about being kept in the dark. :)

It seems so wrong that gneuine people can't sell thier goods because of a minority of people intent on scamming others :(
I think eBay may well one day realise that there are alternative ways to seed out scammers and start letting the honest people sell stuff again :D
