Hi,

I have used one-and-one and Lycos for domain names in the past, my current site is hosted with Lycos as well, as I find them easy to use and their help section is written in plain English, not techie speak :D:D

For a .co.uk I wouldn't expect to pay more than about £5 for 2 years, and maybe about double that for the .com, plus hosting space on top of that which is usually around £5 a month for enough bandwidth and space to host a small business sized site.

I hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here, but it might save money if you hadn't thought of it - I bought both the .co.uk and .com for my name, but have only set up a site on the uk domain, and through Lycos I have just 'pointed' the .com at the .co.uk site, so I have only had to pay for one lot of hosting, but anyone mistakenly putting in .com for my site will end up in the right place anyway. (I hope that made sense!!:))

Hope that helps,

Claire

I use Names.co.uk who right now have half price hosting so instead of £5 its £2.50! I had to barter & weasel my way into getting the cheaper price as its meants to be for new customers but I got it in the end yay!

Also with them, duno if its the same with other companies if you buy hosting you will get the domain name for free! I blooming bought the domain name THEN the hosting before realising this

Learn from my mistake!
