I've just been offered a domain name...and I'm just wondering what a good price is for a relevant name?...eg, if you're a beader, beads.co.uk

This post is ringing bells and I can't think why. I vaguely remember in the last few weeks about someone on one of the forums I'm on being offered a domain name. The cost was high and the general feeling was that it was a bit of a ****.
However presuming that this isn't one, then I'm not sure how relevant the domain name is in a google search. I google a term rather than a domain name.
I've just tried googling beads uk and the store with beads.co.uk didn't appear on the first page of the search and it's a very large established business.

If it's a co.uk you don't want to be paying much more than £2.99 a year, and £8-10 for a .com. Using 'beads' may be a little broad spectrum, but sounds good if you need a covering domain for further projects! :)
This might help...................

I'm pretty much convinced it's not a con because i've done a bit of a background check . I'll be buying it outright. The thing about the domain that i've got is that it is pretty much the top search string for my particular craft...it's a .co.uk too. Is it worth having for links?

Domains are so important.. Some sell for millions..
A domain needs to say what you do e.g. craftsforum .. It make a massive difference to rankings and people remebering it.

Well, one of our convo's we had when you came for the class inspired me! The domain name really couldn't be more perfect for people who use dichroic glass so i'm going to turn it into a blog/ resource guide for glass fusers and hopefully attract a bit of advertising. I think if nothing comes of it I can at least resell the domain. I've done a bit of research and it appears I got a bargain!
