Whats on your palette..?

Ok so all the painters out there...

what are the colours you use the most? What ones can't you live without?

My fav colours are my phthalo blue green shade, cadmium yellow, alizarin crimson, pearlescent tint and of course white, although not technically a colour (although i disagree!)

I also love my mars balck, although many artists dont like to use it i do, in small dabbles with other colours, maybe i'm just too lazy to make up a 'black'!

I dont care too much for the earth tones, maybe i'll start using them more...

The colours that I use the most are probably ochre, raw umber, a couple of different greens, ultramarine, a yellow and lots of white to get the different shades of each colour and I also use black.

There is sometimes a snobbery connected with painting, you can or you can't use this colour or that colour, but I believe the important thing is the finished painting.

'The destination is more important than the journey'.

I agree there's a certain snobbery with colours, and can't agree more that the finished painting is what matters.

I too use black, and use titanium white rather than zinc white for mixing simply because I can buy it in big tubes! Unbleached titanium is quite nice, too.

I love blues: particularly cerulean and ultramarine, but I use a variety of turquoises too.

I use a fair amount of yellow ochre, magenta, cadmium red and yellow. My absolute favourite is light blue violet in the Liquitex range.

I do love using bright colours though, and try to experiment with new colours occasionally.

don't know the actual names, as it's whatever is available (very limited choice locally!)

i use maily blues cerulean and aquamarine i also use white and black paint i have lots of different colours in watercolour not so much in acrlylics only the basics
