Hiya,

For those of us who like to do their bit for the planet, please don't forget to support earth hour today. It's a worldwide energy conservation effort that is encouraging us to turn off as many lights and electrical appliances as possible in our homes this evening between the hours of 8pm and 9pm. It was a huge success last year, for more information have a look at www.earthhour.org (http://www.earthhour.org/) Their website does seem a bit slow, so if you can't get to it take a look at google, they're supporting it and have a link to more info on their home page.

Thanks

Leanna

Just found that out when I went into Google - thought I have made a mistake and done something to make the screen go black than had a read of their Earth Hour message.

Cheers.

what a cool idea! i'm in. I'm a bit energy crazy at the mo! just had my compose bin delivered! dont use a mower anymore either since my guinea pigs munch all the grass! recycle just about anything! Next step is buying some energy efficient light bulbs. I've been keeping my shredded paper for my compost bin.... :mf:

So that's why Google has a blackout! Great idea.

Hubby says I'm a complete pain in the rear because I switch everything off at the wall when it's not being used. I don't find it a problem. I know that the toaster lever won't stay down unless it's switched on it's not my fault he doesn't! I just can't believe it takes him so long to work it out! He stands their pressing it down repeatedly and getting more and more grumpy until he finally realises why! Then of course I get cursed! :mf:

Same here, I was like 'Oh God, what have I done' and clicking all over the place to try and get it to go white, then I saw the message and I was like 'Oh, right, well it makes sense now' lol

Unfortunately they don't do the same sort of sockets here with a wall switch . It's either plugged n or it's not! which is a pain, as can unplug some items easily, cos I end up droing the leads behind units, and it's alos bad for things like chargers etc to leave them plugged in if not working! Multi extension sockets do sometimes come with an on/off switch, and I used to be good with a few items , but ended up banging my head too often crawling under the desk to reach it!, so that kind of got left too!
