Does anyone else get times like me when there is so much you want to do and you even have the time but somehow nothing gets done?
I am suffering form a really rotten cold right now which is taking its time to shift but I've had the whole of today to do things and I don't know where to start!
I think I need someone to sort me out and get me focused on one thing at a time, how do you all keep focused on one thing at a time?

well...... i am not sure how good my advice on this topic is, as I am sitting at work, loads to do, but can't get it done! Concentration span is rubbish.
I write a list usually, the act of writing a list makes me feel like I have accomplished something. I try to write it in the order of priority, then as I finish one thing I tick it off, a sort of visual reference of how well I am doing!
see if that works, I just like making lists myself :D

Organisation of time!? Well I have switched the iron on to iron a curtain, so that tells you about my organisation - I should be ironing and not reading these threads!!!

Yws, hubby and I have been trying to talk ourselves into going for a healthy walk but haven't managed it!! Just done a card that I am not entirely thrilled with so am having a break. Been nibbleing choccy all day instead of starting a diet as we are going away in six weeks. It's a day for doing nothing at all !!! Sue xx:pc:

...tee hee, thats the trouble isnt it, a great many of us do what we want to do rather than what we think we should be doing...I wish I had a "hands up I'm guilty too" smilie but you'll just have to imagine it! :)
Like Pebbles I enjoy making lists too, trouble is I enjoy the list-making more than the doing :frusty:
...so besides sympathising with your cold (its hard to get focussed when you feel rubbish) maybe make sure your goals are achievable...I tend to write too many things on a list and that's self defeating
Congrats on whatever you get done, no matter what it is!

Well I am multi-tasking - did get that pair of curtains ironed and hung and now on to another pair. Job doesn't seem as bad if I treat myself with checking on the forum in between!! Treats for jobs I find is a good way to get things done!!!!!!!!!!

Hehehe!
I've started doing lists and its really good when I can add something to it and cross it off straight away as it was not on it in the first place but then my list looks really good and I've done loads!:D:D:D
Did that make sense?!!:pc:

Oh I know exactly what you mean! I just wish my body could keep up with me, but I get too tired too quickly, then frustrated because I have all these ideas, and no energy to do it! :frusty:

Me too ! I went hell for leather on some stuff I had to do last week and have paid for it all weekend by feeling totally whacked and un-motivated in spite of there being loads more to do.... ah well its Easter so I think we're allowed to slob out a little (?)
..will write a new list tomorrow ;)

Ironing curtains? Obviously have too much time on your hands if you're ironing curtains!
Actually, I am becoming scarily domesticated, I suggested to my boyfriend a few months ago that we wash the curtains and he looked at me quizzically...... I don't think he understood the concept of "washing curtains" (yeah, will get around to this curtain washing thing one day)
I agree with Focus, I like making lists but don't often complete the tasks on the list. There is a sense of accomplishment when the list is made.
When the list is finished, you can take the list and re-write it on pretty paper in your bestest hand writing and in a different order......
See, look at what I have done today, I made a list and it is beautiful!
mmmmm, lists!

The only reason I was ironing curtains was because the dining room had been painted and I finally took the curtains down and decided to wash them - they should have been dry cleaned, but I decided if they were going to pack up they might as well do so in my washing machine rather then whilst I was paying a high price for dry cleaning. I also thought that if they needed replacing I could use the money towards new ones. However I managed to escape with only a little shrinkage in length (not noticeable) and so they needed ironing to hang back - particularly the full length patio window ones!!!! I don't make a habit of finding jobs to do, but the dining room is normally my craft room, so have to get it tidy quickly!!!!

:pile:This is sometimes how it feels........piles of wonderful and not so wonderful things to be done ... where do we start? I've lots I could be doing as hopefully going into hospital next week for longawaited operation. However I've either got a cold developing or its a housedust allergy kicking in from cleaning. Obviously not used to moving the dust around! Where am I? Sitting here...probably becoming even more inspired but feeling justified not to get going on anything else this morning. However, I have been doing lots over weekend as regards domestic stuff so don't feel too guilty! Glad that I'm not only one feeling like this...I don't think the Wintry conditions for Easter have helped though.

I used to be incredibly organised and on top of everything that needed to be done.
All that changed when I found the forum!!! now I know what needs to be done but keep telling myself that if I go to the forum I just might find some inspiration for a new project!!! So here I am now thinking I must go and catch up with orders but just one more minute here!!!!!!!!

....I know I have loads to do with the first ATCF on April 5th, but I'm learning from myself every day. I know that there are certain things I can't hope to achieve with the hypothyroidism, although I am now feeling the benefits of the dietry supplements. Sometimes, you just have to listen to what your body is telling you.....if you ache with tiredness or a stinking cold, then sit dow, relax and just be.
I have a headful of ideas and I have to write everything down in order to remember it later. I was always this way. When revising for exams etc I always wrote everything out long hand, then I could usually picture in my mind exactly what I'd written. Coloured pens and paper are great aide memoirs for this, as well as being lovely in the aesthetic sense.

Jules you are right, it is really important to listen to your body where health is concerned. No point at all pushing beyond what you feel able to do when you will suffer for it afterwards and probably then find the next day or so you get even less done. We all try to push ourselves too far at times.

Hah - I wrote a blog post about organisation and lists the other day! I have lots and lots of ideas but have a book to write them all down in and like Jules it makes me focus and see what to do. I have loads of ideas for Cheeky Chicken items but.... At the moment I just don't have the time to do them all but I will when Anya starts school and we might put Tara into nursery one day a week. Can't wait til 2010 when they will both be at school full time!!

he he Know what you mean Swirly. First day back home and I'm feeling the effects of half term already.
I am an awful mother but I'm sitting here wishing she was back at school, so I could get on and do stuff without being called every few minutes!!! I have the long list of projects I want to make, but also have a big guilt trip looming over me 'cause I know I should be providing exciting and stimulating things for Evie to do.

I find listening to Planet Rock helps me concentrate when I am working, funnily enough this is baked up by research which recommends you listen to rock music before an exam.
