Hi,
Does any one have any advice on how to stick wire to card, i am in the process of making wedding inviations I have made some wire hearts from wire 0.6mm. I have tried using super glue and hot gun glue but this does not seem ideal.
Any ideas please.

I make some cards, not loads, and I have some wire but I've always tended to feature some other embeliishment along with the wire - that way I could tape a small portion of the wire to, say, the back of the other embellishment then glue the embellishment to the card

The embellisment doesnt have to be big either, you could just have a small gem or flower or heart and use silicon glue on the back which would secure the wire at the same time?

I'm sure someone more experienced will come along with a better idea though

You could try PVA, it dries clear so excess isn't so noticeable. However if you are using thin wire then there isn't much to stick iyswim!

When I make cards with wire embellishments, I sew the wire to the card using invisible thread, just a couple of loops and then tie the 2 ends together at the back of the card and use a tiny drop of clear nail varnish to seal the knot. If you want to keep a neat finish inside the card as well, you can stick some matching/contrasting paper on the inside front cover to hide the knots.

Yep that would be my advice too for such thin wire. You can get glue designed for metal but to be honest even then I think your wire might be too thin for it to get hold of properly.

I use pritt gel - its in a silvery grey tube and its made by pritt stick. You can use a tiny amount - just make sure you have a steady hand and it dries clear so as long as you've not made a big dobber on your card than you will be ok!!:D

Try this site. www.thistothat.com (http://www.thistothat.com) then you can put in what you want to glue and what you want to glue it to and it comes up with ideas of what to use. HTH :)

I would use some thread tied round the wire shapes and tape it to the back of the card so the thread and shape is on the front. That way different colours could be experimented with. Thats just my style of card making though.

Alternativly you could leave a bit of extra wire and make a hook that pokes inside the card and tape that inside.

Sorry if thats no help, again this is just my style of card making

Hi

Yes I also agree that adding some beads to the wire may add interest and help them to stick. There are some 0.5cm sticky square tabs you can get from craft shops that may be useful, I used them all the time and they also add a good 3D effect.

Or, you could incorporate some ribbon by sticking it to the card and then tying round the heart?

Good luck!
