Morning all
Has the Easter bunny been to your house!! He's been to ours!
Are there any crafters out there from the North East - ie North of York? I'm in Newcastle upon Tyne and wondered if there were any other members in my area.
Next question, when you're deciding on prices for your wares how do you decide - my husband thinks that price should be based on the length of time it has taken to make something ie what is your time worth. Any thoughts.

Hello! I'm from Stokesley so I'm no where near as far up as you but at least I'm north of York!
In answer to your question about pricing, it can depend on what you are selling, but someone sent me some info' about how to price stuff which i have found very useful. PM me if you'd like me to email it to you.
With regards to your Husband's idea, it is not always viable to charge an hourly rate for handcrafted goods. Some items would work out at hundreds of pounds! My hubby's the same, he drives me nuts with his questions about "how much profit" I've made on a particular item and "how long did it take" me to make it! I must admit though that since I've shown my hubby exactly how I calculate my prices he's backed off a bit!

Hi i'm from Darlington so not too far from both of you.
About pricing, its sometimes difficult to pick a price for something. I have to agree with you roseberry crafts about things could cost hundreds of pounds if you have an hourly rate. I always makesure I get the money back for the materials ive used and then add on a bit for myself. I also ask friends and family how much they would be prepared to pay for something.
Sue.

I live nr Northallerton, dunno if you'll have heard of it?
For the pricing, you need to work out how much it cost to make it and how much you want to pay yourself for the time it took to make it. HTH

Cool, I thought you might have heard of it. I actually live in a village about 15/20 mins away, but its the place nearest to me that people might know about, if you get where I'm coming from!

Hi,
I just had to reply to this one. I grew up in Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne. I have been away for about 25 years but I still think of it as home, especially while my Mum and Dad were still there. I have not been back for about 5 years and I miss the sea so very much, living in land locked Nottingham! Anyone old enough to remember Heaton High school?
Cheers, Ruth.:)

Hi
We used to life in heaton - Ravenswood road just off Chillingham road. We now live in Benton near the Four lane Ends roundabout. I don't know Heaton High School, but my son is going to Cragside School in September ( its on the way to Paddy Freeman park) anyway you probably can't remember where that is. Nice to know you're a member!

Well it is a small world. I went to Ravenswood school and I lived first in Debdon Gardens then on Addycombe Tce.
My Uncle lived a stones throw from Paddy Freemans and my Dad and I spent lots of time sailing little boats on the pond there. I also spent a lot of time in Heaton park and Jesmond dene. Oh dear this is making me feel so homesick.
Since my parents died I have not been able to face returning to the old haunts, although I am always singing the praises of the north coastline to my partner. Bamburgh, Alnwick, seahouses, Craster, expanses of white sand and dunes, freezing cold sea!!
Ok I will stop now. Cheers, Ruth.
