So I bought one of those Continuous Ink System Supply bottle kits for my printer on the recommendation of a friend who uses them already...and I've been waiting for my old ink cartridges to run out before I changed over...and sods law the low ink warnings have coincided with today when I wanted to print lots of leaflets off!

....so I've scratched my head over the instructions and it looks like the changeover requires (of all things) screwdrivers! and, being a bit of a girl, I'm scared of messing it up and not being able to print anything at all today!

So I think I'll bottle out, print em in B&W cos I have lots of that, and tackle the screwdriver another day :o

Bottled out!

Go on... go fetch the screwdriver... http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d19/xdomains/smilies/stupid/13.gif

plenty of old newspapers spread over the table, floor, yourself, wherever else you think you might get the ink!

Go do it now, and tell us the outcome!

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!:o:o:o:o:o

Don't do it!! Not today when you have an event as you'll know you'll end up scratching your nose or something and not get the ink off!!:mf:

Not a good look!!!:D:D

Ha ha ha, no I'm definitely not doing it yet, the instructions look like sumat out of a DIY magazine and the kit has silicone tubing and syringes and air filters and all manner of weird & wonderful wotsits! Looks like Dr Jekyll's laboratory!

I'm sticking wi black n white today and I'll turn into Mrs Hyde another day when I cant do too much damage to my nose or any other sticky out parts:mf:

Aw d'ya know what? Its taking the mickey now girls

There I am printing on "black ink only setting" thank you very much - and it runs out of black ink (which luckily I do have) - so I replace the black ink cartridge and now it wants magenta (which I dont have)

And now its having a stroppy fit & stamping its little printer feet saying "but I dont care if you only want to print in black, I want a magenta cartridge, I want, I want, I want...."

Talk about throwing its rattle out o the pram! And no man in sight! :p

Erm, off to consult plan B....

Luckily I didn't need a screwdriver when I was changing to one of those continuous ink thingies! I had a great time skooshing coloured water out of the syringes when I was cleaning the between ink colours though! :)

It doesnt help that I havent seen this new system set up in real life, just these 7 pages of photos I've got here () but my fella's cousin has the same system so methinks we'll nip in for a brew and a nosey after Easter :)

I managed to find 30 copies of my old style leaflets so I've resorted to a pen (the height of new technology!) and just written my blog address on them

Hey Linz, out of interest, are you happy with your CIS system? I dont think I'll have to play with the syringes yet, its come with 4 full bottles to start me off with once I get my head round it

...aint it funny how it helps to have virtual buddies to whinge with when things are playing you up?! :mf::mf::mf:

thanks guys

Oooooh, i love the pink/purple flowerly one (at the top)! Im sure i recognise the design from some gardening tools?

I love screwdrivers.
My mum and dad bought me this set (http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20060417/she-driver-screwdriver-set/) a few years back. I rather fancy a hammer now.

LOL Very purdy drivers :)

I do own some very boring looking screwdrivers, theyre just a bit of a mystery to me, like fuses and batteries (for some strange reason)

I have been very sadly printer-les since said run-in with the Continuous Ink System instructions

But yay, I have "experts" paying me a home visit tomorrow to install it for me - Jim's cousin and his GF, experts cos they use it already, sounds good enough to me :)

As a thank you, I shall be making em home made pizza for dinner - yum

Did they manage it??? Can you use your printer now???
My printer is one of those ones with the big black plastic things for ink cartridges... much easier to use :)

Sadly no, I'm still printer-less Caz!

When we opened the four cartridges, two of em had the little plastic ends snapped off, they were lurking in the bottom of the box

So we decided its gonna have to be returned and await a new kit

Oh no, thats such a shame. I hope your new kit comes soon...
Or maybe it would be easier to buy a new printer...
But then you might accidently buy one of the ones with all this faffy stuff again, that would be TERRIBLE lol
Well, good luck with the printer
