Hi I guess I should introduce myself, more or less I am from the USA and am very much into making things from recycled materials or as it is often refered to here Trash to Treasure. I have recently been connecting with local companys and making arrangments to remove what they concieve to be waste and redistributing it to various craftspeople. I think this is something that could work on all continets, and would like to encourage all to look at their work places, and or companys in their area and see what is considered useless , yet can be remade into something new and usable and/or decorative. I have found textile mills to be a great source and with the right persons they can easily reduce the amount of waste they have hauled to the landfill by 90%. :D

I make rugs, I have also used the cones that are discarded to make christmas trees, Ive used some materials to make dog toys, working on purses. There are some others I give some of the materials I gather who crochet rugs from it, and one woman who uses some of it for clothes. I will have to see about pictures as soon as I can.

Heres some of the things Ive done and pictures of the materials I get from the company and pass on so they can be put to use instead of going to the landfill.

Hmm I dont know, unless it wants to put acookie in you system and you are not set up for it. I set it for public viewing. Heres a link for a diffrent site that has a picture of a rug I made from labels that were destined for the trash.

It sounds great!!

I've been looking into doing something similar myself, making bags and accessories - just don't know where to start!

It's amazing when you think about it, just the things that WE throw away day to day can be reused to make something unique and useful.

Carry on!! And I'll try to start (!) in the New Year!

If you do post up a url of any work you have made... I'd love to see it...

Good luck

I love making crafts from recycled items. My newest passion is making floor cloths from recyled painter's drop cloths. Try The Wildwood Cottage http://www.wildwoodcottage.com under tips and how to's for information on how to make your own floor cloth. So far I've made 4 floor cloths of my own and now Im hooked. :D
