Work in Progress - the shop

Just a couple of piccies from the weekend of our shop slowly being transformed, we have made a little more progress since then and hoping to do the lighting and flooring over Easter :)

Aw its really exciting seeing those Netty, be brill to take all your other piccies from the same angles, then you could do a great morphing thing on the puter and have it transform into the final shop before our very eyes! :)

(err I dont know how you do that though but it'd be cool!)

Our job this afternoon/evening is to pull up said carpet...I'm going to be wearing gloves for that cos it's even more grotty than it looks in the picture - yuck!

Wow!! It's soo exciting!!
There's a wool shop down the road from me, on our way out last night we noticed they were having some kind of gathering in there, the lights were on, there were people sitting , (knitting i think) i'm not a knitter so have never been in there but seeing that sight made me want to join in, it looked soo cosy!!
I know you don't sell wool but i can just imagine your shop being like that, a meeting place for the village, ah makes me all fuzzy inside..

:)Hi! Good luck in your new shop venture!
Its great to see all your work in progress. Can you tell me a bit about the cladding or boarding you're putting up please? Is it anything to do with shelving system. It'll be great seeing it emerge bit by bit .
I'm also putting together what was just intended to be my studio (but as its a shop really) friends and family have suggested using it as a shop for finished goods ,as well as my idea of doing workshops there too. Its a bit difficult therefore to work it all out. Ideally I'd like to sell other crafters items too after visiting a craft co-op in St Alban's.
I'm trying to work out whether its best to paint it white as a good background for work. Appreciate any comments ,ideas too.....the lit-up woolshop that was mentioned is just my idea of heaven.....I'm sure I should've moved to USA for all their quilting bees or whatever they are called where people can get together and craft and learn new skills etc and chat craft but that's what happens here too...so what more can I ask for?

Glad I'm not boring too many of you with my piccies, I've added 2 new photos from last night onto the first post of this thread and also here for those like me too lazy to go back and look. As you can see progress is being made, along with lots of mess at the mo too.

What fun we had with that lovely manky carpet! It simply wouldn't budge, it had been glued on with something VERY strong and as the floor was too uneven for laminate we had to do a slight bodge job and lay self-levelling compound over the carpet. Should get the laminate down tonight and then it'll really start looking the biz :)

PS. To the poster (sorry can't remember who it was) asking about the walls, it's called slatwall and has groves to hang hooks, acrylic boxes etc on, here's the link to where we bought it from http://www.uni-shop.com/

LOL if you look closely in one of the piccies you can see a few hooks on the wall with stock on them. I'm so impatient and couldn't resist putting them up just to see what it'd look like, I keep putting up the acrylic shelves too and stand there admiring them...and them taking them down again so they don't get dirty or broken :p.

Oooh fabby, you've just given me a deadline to work towards :) In my mind I have either 12th or 19th pencilled in so will do my damnest to try for the earlier date. Will have a better idea after this weekend when hopefully most of the shop fitting will be completed, will then just need to order in some more display stands, the counter and sort out credit card terminal....oh and put my stock in there.
