Hello, I haven't joined a forum before so please excuse me if I mess anything up. There are lots of questions I have but also I have a lot of expertise as I have been a professional creative person for many years.
I am currently making and selling jewellery in my retail shop in Eastbourne.
Prior to that I worked as a scenic artist, a professional photographer, a graphic designer and art teacher.
I am soon attempting to trade online and wonder if anyone can give me any helpful advice? Also does anyone know a good source of recycled gift boxes in large sizes?

Pretty awful actually although from the beginning of November my sales go mad as I make masses of Christmas decorations, and I even have repeat customers! I've sold a few Easter things but not as much as I would have liked. At the end of this month I'm closing my store as my mother and I want to concentrate on some brand new lines and then I will launch properly later in the year.
Do you sell on Ebay and where is your shop?

Thanks for your welcome, I can pass on any questions to my boyfriend who has lots of experience in packshot photography. I used to do portraiture but am starting to really enjoy photographing jewellery which is harder than people, I think.

Hi Christine, glad you like them. I really did the website as somewhere to direct people who already know my work and that is why it is just one set up free via my ISP and without a buying facility. However, I do occasionally get an order out of the blue which is nice. I think because people can't order direct from the site it is not so appealing to browsers. It is not a very serious business proposition, just somewhere where I can post images and I also do pick up some interest when people do a Google search.

Yes we are Christine - just a few miles away. Lovely countryside round here. Although I love Eastbourne too. My husband was at Eastbourne College (many moons ago) as a pupil, so it has always had a soft spot in his heart and we have been there several times on holiday.

It was about 1972 when I last visited Rockingham, I was at Loughborough Art College and my boyfriend, a graphic designer left the year before me getting a job at Kaye Cards designing cards. We split up as it wasn't easy to meet up.
His father managed the castle estate and they lived in a lovely stone built cottage which I vaguely remember. Eastbourne is a wonderful place to live but the local economy is poor and I hear lots of sad stories from my customers.
Do you live in a village?
